Rooted in the female gaze, Kat Webber crafts immersive worlds that combine emotional authenticity with dreamlike abstraction through a kinetic and distinctly cinematic visual language.
Kat Webber is an award-winning Canadian director and editor working across music video, commercial, film, and television.
As a short-form editor, Kat has shaped music videos for some of the world’s leading artists, including SZA, Kendrick Lamar, Drake, Coldplay, and Chlöe. Her editorial work has received recognition from the JUNO Awards, MTV Video Music Awards, BET Awards, NAACP Image Awards, Cannes Lions, the Webby Awards, and ADC Annual Awards. She won Best Editing at the 2026 Hollywood Music Video Awards for her work on luther, directed by Karena Evans. Her commercial editing work includes campaigns for brands such as Dolby Atmos, Adidas, Rockstar, and Mercedes-Benz.
In narrative, Kat edited writer-director Emma Higgins’ debut feature, Sweetness, which had its world premiere at SXSW in 2025. Her television credits include additional editing on the acclaimed STARZ series P-Valley and serving as lead editor on the Boat Rocker Studios and Corus Entertainment series Robyn Hood.
As a director, Kat has created videos for artists including Ciara, G-Eazy, and Kiana Ledé. She has also directed campaigns for international brands including Cadillac, Nike, Under Armour, Coors Light, and Fujifilm. Her campaign Armour Up received a Silver Clio Award for Film Craft, while her short film Barbara Anne received the Silver Award for Best Canadian Short at the Toronto After Dark Film Festival. She was also recognized by Complex as one of Canada’s ten best music video directors.
Drawing on more than a decade of experience as an editor, Kat brings a deeply intentional sense of rhythm, an eye for performance, and a command of visual storytelling to every frame. This expertise allows her to reverse engineer a creative vision from its final form, informing every aspect of the process from pre-production through post. Having earned a BFA from York University’s Acting Conservatory, she not only has a deep understanding of the technical aspects of filmmaking, but also an innate appreciation for the performers’ process. Kat is able to draw powerful performances from actors, real people, musicians, dancers and athletes alike.
